Early Sunday morning, Oct. 4, a group of Kenwood Academy high school students and Washington Park community members gathered at 5703 S. Lafayette Ave. to assist artist and architect Amanda Williams in painting an abandoned house the bright, reddish orange color of “Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.”
As part of her project titled “Color(ed) Theory,” Williams, an Auburn Gresham native and professor of architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology, has been traversing Chicago’s South Side, painting the exteriors of abandoned houses slated for demolition.
Williams said the project, in part, grew out her deep love for color.
“I’ll think about these colors that might have significance to urban neighborhoods,” Williams said.

So I heard from the grapevine that Kanye West and Common teamed with the Urban League to create around 20,000 jobs for youth all around Chicago. I guess Kanye and Common finally got tired of all the tomfoolery of “Chiraq”.
Because 92% of Chicago Youth are unemployed, and unemployment breeds crime. And since this move is in motion, I believe this summer in Chicago will be that much more relaxing.
